MERCURY Entering its second year of production, the all-British Mercette is in several respects different from the usual run of mopeds. It has a 48 c.c. overhead-valve engine mounted forward of the bottom bracket and driving the rear wheel by chain through a two-speed gear box in unit. There is direct lighting. Front suspension is by telescopic fork and the tubular steel frame is designed for maximum rigidity. Wheel diameter is 26in and hub brakes of 4in diameter are specified. A pillion scat and footrests arc available.
