BOWN

Seen for the first time at last year's Show and unchanged for 1957, the Bown moped is a trim machine of typically continental lines.

Power unit is the German 47 c.c. Sachs twostroke with twingrip-controlled two-speed gear box in unit. a flywheel magneto embodies 17-watt lighting coils.

Of 9 1/2-pint capacity, the fuel tank forms an integral part of the beam-type, pressed-steel frame; the seat stays and chain stays are tubular. The front fork is of trailing-link pattern. An electric horn is fitted.

SPECIFICATION.

FRAME: Ingeniously designed incorporating a built-in petrol tank

  as an integral part of the frame.

FORKS: Manufactured from best quality steel tubing. Swinging link

  front wheel suspension: tubular design.

ENGINE: 47 c.c. Sachs.

GEAR BOX: Gear selection, easy to operate, twist grip control 2

  speed.

BRAKES: Internal expanding hub brakes. 4" diameter, foot

  operated control of rear brake. Handlebar control of front brake.

  Quick action adjustment on both.

PETROL TANK: Capacity 9 1/2 pints sufficient for approx. 240 miles.

WHEELS & TYRES: Dunlop 23" x 2" heavy gauge rims and spokes.

HANDLEBARS: Semi-raised adjustable pattern. Chromium plated.

MUDGARDS: Stream-lined, heavy valanced.

STAND: Tubular construction, central position. Effective for front

  and rear wheels.

SADDLE: Large well sprung specially designed comfort pattern.

LIGHTING: 15 watt operating from mag. dyno. 5" diameter

  Headlamp.

EQUIPMENT: Number plates, Hooter, Pump, Complete set of tools,

  Grease gun and Rider’s Hand-book. Built-in Tool Box.

PETROL CONSUMPTION: 200 miles per gallon.

CLUTCH & GEAR CHANGE CONTROL: Situated on the handle

  bars. Easily and safely manipulated without moving hands from

  the Handlebars.

WHEELBASE: 45".
