Lviv Motorcycle Factory, abbreviated LMZ (Cyrillic: ЛМ3, Ukrainian: Львівський мотозавод, Russian: Львовский мотозавод) was a machine-building factory in Lviv, Ukraine, which produced bicycles and mopeds. The company's headquarters were located in the western part of Lviv, in the Zaliznychny district (Horodotka street 174). The factory's predecessor was founded in 1919. During the Soviet period, it was one of the main factories for the production of small motorcycles, along with the Red Star Motorcycle Factory in Riga. Its main brands were Verkhovina and Karpati. In the 1990s, production decreased significantly, and the company was closed in 1998.

• Verkhovyna (Bерховина): A series of very popular 50cc mopeds produced from the 1970s. The Verkhovyna series (LMZ) was one of the most common mopeds throughout the Soviet Union.

• Karpaty (Kарпаты): The successor to the Verkhovyna, which came in the early 1980s and also had a 50cc engine (usually of the S-58, S-62 or V-50 type).

• B-22 Lviv: During the 1950s, women's bicycles were also manufactured at the Lviv factory under the name B-22, which were sometimes equipped with small outboard engines.

DESCRIPTION AND TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

A motorized bicycle is a versatile vehicle that can be used for transportation in a variety of road conditions. Its comfortable frame design allows it to be used by both men and women. Unlike a bicycle, a motorized bicycle, thanks to its V-shaped frame and lower center of gravity, offers improved maneuverability. This, combined with shock-absorbing front and rear suspension and low ground pressure, provides increased maneuverability on cobblestone and unpaved roads. Nylon is widely used for plain bearings and body components. The new seat and handlebar design significantly reduce driver fatigue and improve riding comfort.

The motorized bicycle is easy to operate and is quickly mastered by novice riders. Riding does not require a license. The motorbike can be ridden with the engine off, pedaling like a regular bicycle.

The motorbike is suitable for long-distance trips of up to 200 km without refilling the gas tank, with fuel consumption of 1.6 liters per 100 km.

• Wheelbase 1150 mm • Clearance 90 mm • Length 1790 m • Width 650 mm • Height 950 mm • Weight 34 kg • Load capacity up to 100 kg • Max. speed 50 km/h • Two-stroke engine, model D-5 • Number of cylinders 1 • Displacement 45 cc³ • Compression ratio 5.2

• Fuel tank capacity 3.5 l • Power 1.4 hp.

Fuel mixture of car fuel and 2-stoke oil.

Motor foot drive: chain, hubbushing and roller 12.7 x 3.4

Frame: single-tube, curved, welded. Front fork: rubber shock absorber. Rear wheel suspension: one-piece stamped with spring shock absorber. Tire size: 559 x 48 (26"12"). Wheels: front with hub and shoe brake. Brake: rear with "Torpedo" type hub.

• The design was developed by the plant's innovators.
